Surrounded by dramatic mountains and glistening fjords, this experience lets you connect with nature in a hands-on way. Whether you’re trying your luck at catching local fish or simply taking in the breathtaking scenery, the cruise is a memorable way to experience the beauty and calm of Northern Norway.
🦌 Reindeer Feeding and Sámi Culture
Immerse yourself in Sámi culture and life in the Arctic. Together, we’ll meet reindeer, learn about their importance in Sámi traditions, and hear stories about life in Northern Norway. You’ll also have the chance to taste traditional Sámi dishes, making the experience a rich introduction to both the people and flavours of the Arctic.
❄️ Sledding and Bonfire Adventure
Get ready for an afternoon of Arctic fun as we head out to snowy hills for sledding and outdoor excitement. After racing down the slopes, we’ll gather around a bonfire to enjoy traditional Norwegian snacks, sharing stories and laughter along the way. Enjoy the Arctic outdoors in a playful, authentic way and connect with new friends and the unique spirit of Northern Norway.
🌄 Unforgettable Sights: Fjellheisen and Arctic Cathedral
Take in sweeping views over Tromsø as we ride the Fjellheisen mountain lift, with the city, fjords, and surrounding islands laid out below. We’ll also visit the striking Arctic Cathedral, an iconic landmark of the city. You’ll see Tromsø from new angles and gain a deeper sense of the city and its Arctic surroundings.
The Retreat Program
Four days of learning, exploration, and connection surrounded by Tromsø’s stunning Arctic landscape.
📍 Day 1 - Friday: Welcome to Tromsø
Settle into the hotel, start connecting with fellow students, enjoy a packed lunch (a Norwegian staple!), and join a relaxed walk through Tromsø’s old town. In the evening, we gather for dinner and a cozy introduction to Northern Norwegian culture with Tor.
📍 Day 2 - Saturday: Fjords & Norwegian Class
Spend the day out on the water with a scenic fjord cruise and fishing experience. Back on land, enjoy a gentle walk along the waterfront or relax at the hotel and connect with your peers. We share a relaxed pizza dinner before diving into another Norwegian session with Tor.
📍 Day 3 - Sunday: Reindeer & Arctic Evening
Meet the reindeer, learn about Sámi culture, and feed the herd up close. Later, we gather for an outdoor evening with a bonfire, hotdogs, sledding, and plenty of Arctic winter fun.
📍 Day 4 - Monday: Final Glimpses of Tromsø
Ride the mountain lift for stunning panoramic views of Tromsø, reflect on your experiences, and connect with new friends. We visit the Arctic Cathedral, Tromsø’s iconic landmark, before wrapping up the retreat and saying goodbye.
